My Creative Mess

"Creativity is more important that knowledge" - Alber Einstein

My question to you all is do you believe this.

For me, I like to think that in the overall scheme of life creativity yeilds us a much higher return of fullfillment than simply just having lots of knowledge. I mean there's always a way of going about doing things based on what you know and going by the book, but taking a creative side step and stepping outside your box, your world, is a much better way of going about your life.

So mix it up, let me know what you all think. Thanks.

I should say both compliments each other actually... without the knowledge you can see the birth of creativity. To bend the rules you firstly need to know the rules as bending the rules involves much creativity so to say thinking out of the box :) Both are equally important i must say.

I think that creativity and knowledge are symbiotic. Creativity spawns knowledge and you can't be creative with out knowledge. Both these things are the ying and yang to everything that we do or don't do.

However, I think what Albert Einstein was getting at is that people tend to look at knowledge as something analytical and structured and with out spontaneity. And if pressed between choosing either he would go for creativity... the reason being that at the end of the day I believe creativity is what allows us to fully understand and enjoy what knowledge we acquire.

Good points. Both of them. I can see how creativity can spawn knowledge, but I'm still trying to understand if we never had knowledge, could we still have creativity? Because to me, they're two separate entities within each of us. I think we're given both by God, and not that they don't compliment each other and work hand-in-hand sometimes, but I still think we could be creative without knowledge.

of course we could be creative without knowledge, but what would be the point if we don't have the knowledge to understand that we have been creative?... Reason and knowledge is what separates us from the beasts. Not to be crazy, but there are plenty of cats and dogs that paint... but at the end of the day that is a mere curiosity. To make us creative with out knowledge we become no better than monkeys with paintbrushes...

never thought about it that way. hmm... that's similar to something I was reading about how we as humans are the only species that can think of the future. All other animals live solely on repetition and what they are accustomed too. But we can sit down and plan out what we'll do tomorrow like it's happening today. Interesting. But yeah I see how without knowledge we wouldn't ever know we were being creative. Thanks.
